The 2008 Ravensworth Run & BBQ

Report by Dave Simpson

By kind permission of our hosts Steve & Dot (our own BBQ queen) we had another excellent run around lower Teesdale with a refreshment stop en-route all organized by the Steve’s with a quest to find all the pub names, and there was quite a few on the route. At this stage I would like to assure aspiring members that the cars are the priority in this club not the stuff that comes in a bottle, isn’t it? However it really does help! Or maybe I’ve got that wrong. The route itself took us up the usual scruffy but interesting little lanes and across the lovely higher ground with views of reservoirs and hillsides, which are hard to match anywhere. As usual we got well spread out but regrouped to take on liquids after which a mad dash back to Ranch Wardle to be first to attack the stocks of ale and food. The remainder of the evening deteriorated into the usual riotous behavior with Darren getting the treatment as this was his first time, well done Darren; I hope Susan can repair the socks.

The blind lumberjack was at it again ! # ?

Owing to the threat of inclement weather I couldn’t persuade Kate to share a tent for the night so the MG was abandoned and a lift back to town arranged as midnight approached. I am informed the remainder of the night became distinctly blurred amongst those that stayed.

Yes Dave, it did get a bit blurred, but so did you !

Go on Kate, it's in there somewhere !

Though not as blurred as some I could mention, eh Gary ?

Increase the medication nurse, he doesn't look like he'll make it

Once again many thanks to Steve and Val for the entertainment and Steve and Dot for the food and accommodation.
